One of the annoying things which I found out is that with German layout my laptop NumPad works differently on Linux and Windows.
When working with code I often use Shift+Home, Shift+End, etc. combinations with NumPad keys, which is quite convenient, but on Linux (Gnome) pressing e.g Shift + End always types "1" instead (even if NumLook is disabled).
I googled for solution and didn't found anything useful.
Then I went through settings and found the appropriate checkbox "[x] Shift with numeric keypad keys works as in MS Windows":
